it’s only my first day in taipei, and i’m already thinking it’s a bad idea. Everything is unfamiliar, and i don’t know where to get stuff. moving isn’t new to me, but this time it seems different. Am I too old for change?
As soon as I got in to my apt, I didn’t know what to do…so I thought i’d just sort out my belongings. It was too quiet, so the computer was turned on. It was then I realised that I have a 3 prong plug, and the outlets are 2 prongs. So as soon as I was done organizing things a bit, I set out to find converters, and also to explore my surroundings.
also on my list of to buy, conditioner. In all honesty, I didn’t know where to look for the plug converter…so I went to get a beverage. (it was 5 ntd more than what i usually pay for in Dajia, i think)
I went to two places looking for the converter before the mom n pop store said that, the thing I’m looking for is sold at the hardware store down that way. It’s what i love about the mom n pop stores. They are way helpful. I think I’ll be making them my food shop. The hardware store was also very helpful, you don’t even have to search yourself for what you’re looking for, the guy just asks you want, and he goes and gets them for you. :)
Finding dinner was another issue… i didn’t know what’s good around here, so I just decided to try them all one by one. Today I went to the Stinky Tofu place & the noodles place. It was good. the Ahjuma selling the food is very adorable as well. She could very well be my own grandmother. She clearly works for fun.
It’s quite lonely here. I hate eating alone. and I don’t know where anything is. I suppose this is just the beginning, and anything at the beginning, one will not be able to adjust right away…
I called home to tell them i got here ok. My dad picked up, i was on verge of tears, and all i was doing was reporting home… i am not so brave after all.
